ASEAN Fun Walk 2023 attracts 800 people in Ho Chi Minh City

Over 800 participants joined the ASEAN Fun Walk 2023, which was held by the Consulate-General of Indonesia in Ho Chi Minh City and other ASEAN member states’ consulate-general offices to commemorate the founding of the organization on Saturday.

The event, which celebrates the 56th founding anniversary of ASEAN and Indonesia’s 2023 ASEAN Chairmanship Year, saw the participants stroll along Nguyen Hue pedestrian street for a total distance of up to 5km.

It was attended by Phan Van Mai, Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee, Agustaviano Sofjan, Consul General of Indonesia in Ho Chi Minh City, consuls general and consular delegations of ASEAN member countries, Russia, the UK, India and Australia.

In addition to the walk, attendees had the opportunity to enjoy national cuisine and watch Southeast Asian countries’ traditional dance and martial art performances.

Answering Tuoi Tre News, Indonesian Consul General in Ho Chi Minh City Agustaviano Sofjan said the ASEAN Fun Walk aimed to share the togetherness, the rich culture and cuisine among ASEAN countries.

“I believe that the basis of a strong relationship between countries lies within the heart of their people. The people of ASEAN should be the spotlight and the bloc should bring tangible impacts to its people.

“I am certain that the bond we create between our people will also assist us in advancing our economic relations and objectives. ASEAN is our home and our family,” Sofjan said.
