A Ho Chi Minh City delegation on Tuesday met with authorities from Jakarta, Indonesia to exchange information and share experience in public transport management, with a focus on the development of electric bus, rapid bus, and mass rapid transit (MRT) services.
The meeting was part of the Ho Chi Minh City delegation’s working visit to Indonesia from September 3 to 5.
The delegation was led by Bui Xuan Cuong, vice-chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City administration.
It worked with Regional Secretary of Jakarta Joko Agus Setyono and representatives of state management agencies in charge of public transport and urban management in the Indonesian capital city.
Ho Chi Minh City and Jakarta have many things in common, such large populations and high population densities.
They both face several challenges regarding urban management issues and environmental pollution, thereby opening up many potential cooperation opportunities between the two cities.
The delegation on Tuesday afternoon met with MRT Jakarta Company – the entity charged with managing and operating Jakarta’s MRT system.
Both sides agreed to co-host a forum to call for investment into projects employing the transit-oriented development.
