-- Chief of the General Staff of the Vietnam People’s Army and Deputy Minister of National Defence Sen. Lieut. Gen. -- Educational authorities in Ba Dinh District, Hanoi disinfected 64 preschools, elementary schools, middle schools and 72 private preschool classes on Tuesday afternoon after many students at an elementary school were infected with intestinal bacteria.

-- The People’s Committee of Thai Binh Province in northern Vietnam on Tuesday imposed a fine of VND80 million (US$3,265) on a bakery in Tien Hai District for providing cakes that caused food poisoning to 28 students.

-- Doctors at the Ear Nose Throat Hospital Ho Chi Minh City on Tuesday said that they recently conducted surgery to remove a part of a chopstick measuring 2.5cm in length from the left ear of a 42-year-old patient from the Central Highlands province of Lam Dong after the foreign object had been left in her ear for seven years due to a traffic accident.
