The culture and sports authority of Lam Dong Province in Vietnam’s Central Highlands has forced the Cu Lan village tourist site to temporarily suspend operations, after a flash flood swept a jeep away, leaving four South Korean tourists dead on Tuesday.
The provincial Department of Culture and Sports made this move on Wednesday as part of the authorities’ efforts to cope with the aftermath of the fatal incident at the Cu Lan village tourist area, located in Lat Commune, Lac Duong District.
On Tuesday at noon, a flash flood struck a shallow stream in the tourist area and turned the jeep upside down while the off-road vehicle was carrying the four South Korean tourists to explore the waterway.
Consequently, the tourists were swept far away, while the driver was entangled with the roots of a tree and was slightly injured.
Rescuers recovered the bodies of the four tourists later on the same day.
The deceased victims, including two men and two women, were identified as K.S.O., 79; K.J.H., 76; K.J.O., 74; and K.M.J., 68.

The South Korean side transported the bodies of the victims to Ho Chi Minh City at 3:00 am on Wednesday to prepare to repatriate them.
