A cold air mass hit Hanoi on Monday morning, lowering the temperature and causing an unexpected cold spell and rain in the Vietnamese capital city.
Hanoi residents struggled to commute to their workplaces in the chilly winds, while outdoor workers bundled up in the cool temperature.
According to Tuoi Tre (Youth) newspaper reporters' observation, several roads in Hanoi faced traffic jams during rush hour on Monday morning, while cold winds blasted commuters and workers.
Nguyen Huong Giang, a local in Yen Hoa Ward under Cau Giay District, said that the weather changed so quickly that people could not prepare well for the cold.
“The weather was hot yesterday, but it is freezing today,” she said.
The northern region was forecast to experience moderate to heavy rains on Monday, with rainfall estimated to reach up to 50 millimeters per hour, according to the national weather center.
