Police in Lam Dong Province, located in Vietnam's Central Highlands region, apprehended a deputy director and two employees at the Cu Lan Village tourist area, a popular attraction in the province, for their involvement in an accident claiming the lives of four South Korean tourists in October, an officer said on Wednesday.
Police officers also launched criminal proceedings against a case of involuntary manslaughter that happened at Cu Lan Village in Lac Duong District.
The detainees include Ngo Thanh Nghia, a 55-year-old resident of Thu Duc City under Ho Chi Minh City, nearly 300 kilometers from the Central Highlands province; and Vo Tan Binh, 35, and Vo Le Thai, 30, both living in An Giang Province in the Mekong Delta region.
Nghia is deputy director at the Cu Lan Village tourist site, while Binh serves as a worker there.
Thai, who works as a driver there, was driving a jeep carrying the four South Koreans for sightseeing when the vehicle flipped over due to a flash flood, leaving all the foreigners dead on October 24.

The four deceased victims, including two men and two women, were identified as K.S.O., 79; K.J.H., 76; K.J.O., 74; and K.M.J., 68.
Thai suffered mild injuries after the incident, which took place at a shallow stream in Cu Lan Village, some 25 kilometers away from Da Lat City, a popular tourist destination in the upland province, at noon the same day.
The tourists were swept far away, while the driver was entangled in the roots of a tree.
After a search and rescue operation was carried out, staff members of the tourist site discovered the driver and two of the tourists.
One of the two tourists was found dead and the other was pronounced dead after being hospitalized for emergency treatment.
The bodies of the remaining two were recovered later at around 4:30 pm on the same day.
A worker at the tourist site said that traveling along the shallow stream using a jeep is among the favorite activities of visitors to Cu Lan Village.
This was the first time that a flash flood had hit the tourist site since it opened its door over 10 years ago, the staff member said.
