Da Nang City is set to pilot its first pedestrian street initiative in the first quarter of 2024 on Bach Dang Street between the Dragon Bridge and the Nguyen Van Troi Bridge.
The pilot period will last until the end of 2028, the administration of Hai Chau District in the coastal city confirmed on Thursday.
The plan stipulates that the pedestrian street will be open daily from 3:00 pm to 12:00 am.
The city will reserve locations for carts in a lane to the east of the extended Bach Dang Street during the period and will not allow vendors to put tables and chairs along the lane.
The three other lanes on Bach Dang will have an enforced speed limit of 40 kilometers per hour.
The Da Nang authorities plan to organize three clusters, each with 12 carts, along the sidewalk of Bach Dang Street. They also intend to establish five clusters, each consisting of 15 carts, along the easternmost lane of Bach Dang.
Furthermore, the municipal government aims to create five designated check-in locations on the promenade, install free Wi-Fi systems, rejuvenate a road section leading to the Nguyen Van Troi Bridge, adorn walls with murals, and set up a stage opposite Binh Minh 6 Street.

The walkway will accommodate cultural and artistic activities to serve local residents and tourists, music programs, and large events held in association with enterprises, according to the Da Nang Department of Tourism.
The street will also be used to organize large festivities, such as Mid-Autumn Festival, Lion and Dragon Dance Festival, beer and food festivals, and hot-air balloon festivals.
Da Nang actively promotes various street art forms, including portrait painting, legerdemain, aerobics, street music, fashion shows, and organized dances, encouraging their utilization within the pedestrian area.
