Ho Chi Minh City authorities have finished dismantling an over-400-meter-long wall which separated Tan Son Nhat International Airport from an adjacent residential area for three decades to make room for a road section near the airport.

The demolition was aimed at building and expanding a road connecting Tran Quoc Hoan and Cong Hoa Streets in Tan Binh District, removing the bottleneck facing the route to the airport.

The road is intended to connect to the upcoming T3 passenger terminal at the airport, designed with a capacity for 20 million passengers annually.

The terminal is scheduled to commence operations in the second quarter of 2025.

The aging concrete wall was totally torn down, according to a Tuoi Tre (Youth) newspaper reporters' observation on Saturday afternoon.

The concrete barrier was situated on Road C12, connecting Cong Hoa Street and Nguyen Duc Thuan Street.

After knocking down the wall, construction workers erected makeshift barriers around the piles of debris to ensure safety for commuters.

Meanwhile, over 20 workers and engineers inside the fence of iron sheets were busy speeding up the construction of the last section of the approach road.
