A ninth-grade student died after taking part in a 200-meter run during a school sports event in Quang Binh Province, north-central Vietnam on Friday.

After running 200 meters, the schoolboy suffered fatigue, thereby being rushed to a nearby hospital.

However, he was pronounced dead.

The education and training division of Quang Trach District in the province confirmed on Saturday that the student passed away after attending a recent sports event for students in the district.

The student at Quang Lien Middle School was identified as T.N.L., a 15-year-old resident of Lien Truong Commune in Quang Trach District.

The sports event of the 2023-24 academic year was organized at the yard of Quang Phuong Middle School, covering multiple categories.

The event was geared toward elementary- and middle-school students.

L. competed in a 200-meter run.

After completing his race, L. felt tired. Therefore, he was taken to an airy space for some rest.

However, his health situation did not improve, and he got first aid from medical workers.

He was declared dead even though he was admitted to Bac Quang Binh General Hospital for emergency treatment.

Police are clarifying the death of the schoolboy.
