-- New Zealand hosted an official reception for Vietnamese Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, featuring 19 cannon shots and special indigenous rituals, on Monday morning. Chinh on Saturday began his first official visit to New Zealand since assuming power in 2021 at the invitation of his New Zealand counterpart Christopher Luxon.

-- Vietnam ranks among the six countries most impacted by climate change globally, Minister of Natural Resources and Environment Dang Quoc Khanh stated on Sunday.

-- Waste along the Nhieu Loc-Thi Nghe Canal in Ho Chi Minh City has been collected under an urgent order of the municipal People’s Committee, in response to media reports highlighting the buildup of garbage in this waterway.

-- Authorities in Quang Ngai Province, central Vietnam seized nearly 28kg of drugs washing ashore on Ly Son Island, an official confirmed on Sunday night.

-- Traffic police in Hanoi have requested the chairman of the municipal People’s Committee to issue a decision imposing a fine of VND35 million (US$1,420), revoking the driver’s license for 23 months, and impounding the car for seven days for a 36-year-old female driver found driving under the influence of alcohol. This is within the highest penalty range for drivers with breath alcohol concentration exceeding 0.4mg per liter. The incident also prompted speculation about a connection between her and the Ministry of Public Security, which police have refuted.

-- A sleeper bus collided with a parked truck on the Cam Lo-La Son Expressway in Thua Thien-Hue Province, central Vietnam, resulting in the deaths of two individuals and injuring seven others on Sunday evening.

-- The plumeria trees around the park located in front of the Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee office building in District 1 have been replaced with apricot trees and colorful flower carpets, as part of the ongoing renovation of the park.

-- Police from Quang Ngai Province announced on Sunday the arrest of a 30-year-old karaoke parlor owner, who had stripped hostesses and electrocuted them to force them into prostitution.

-- Four Vietnamese men and women who allegedly went on a shoplifting spree at casual clothing giant Uniqlo have been arrested by the Fukuoka prefectural police in Japan, The Yomiuri Shimbun reported on Saturday.
