The Authority of Broadcasting and Electronic Information, under the Vietnamese Ministry of Information and Communications, on Wednesday ordered Netflix Inc., a subscription-based video streaming service, to stop advertising and distributing its video games in Vietnam before April 25.

This fiat was issued due to the U.S. streaming platform lacking the necessary license to offer gaming services in the Southeast Asian nation.

Netflix will be subject to penalties in line with Vietnamese law if it fails to comply with the authority’s order.

During a inspection of online services, the authority discovered that Netflix was advertising unlicensed video games to Vietnamese customers on the Netflix app and providing such games on the App Store Vietnam and Google Play Store Vietnam without having a license to do so in Vietnam.

There are currently 90 games on the Netflix app.

After downloading and installing these games, users can log in their Netflix accounts to play them.
