Ho Chi Minh City will set off fireworks at 16 venues, mostly across the Saigon River, to mark the 49th anniversary of Reunification Day on April 30.

In particular, the city will launch a high-altitude fireworks display at Saigon River Tunnel in Thu Duc City, according to a directive by Phan Van Mai, chairman of the municipal People’s Committee, released on Tuesday.

Among nine venues for low-altitude fireworks shows along the Saigon River are Van Phuc City, which is an urban area in Thu Duc City, a park on Thanh Da Peninsula in Binh Thanh District, the Rach Chiec Bridge area in Thu Duc City, Thao Dien Urban Area, the area of Landmark 81 skyscraper in Binh Thanh District, Ba Son Bridge in District 1, Bach Dang Wharf, the area of Tan Thuan 1 Bridge in District 4, and a bank of the river in Thanh My Loi Ward under Thu Duc.

The remaining six sites where low-altitude fireworks will explode to celebrate the upcoming Reunification Day holiday include Tay Bac Industrial Park in Cu Chi District, the Nga Ba Giong relic site in Hoc Mon District, the traditional revolutionary area of the 1968 Mau Than Spring General Offensive and Uprising in Binh Chanh District, Dam Sen Cultural Park in District 11, the administrative center in District 7, and Can Gio Mangrove Biosphere Reserve.

These shows will last 15 minutes from 9:00 pm to 9:15 pm on April 30.

Public workers in Vietnam will have five consecutive days off to enjoy the forthcoming Reunification Day and International Workers’ Day (May 1) holiday.

The holiday break lasts from Saturday to Wednesday, or from April 27 to May 1.
