-- Aside from the four state-run Vietnamese banks Vietcombank, VietinBank, Agribank, and BIDV, the wholly state-owned Saigon Jewelry JSC will start purchasing gold from the State Bank of Vietnam and sell the precious metal to residents from Monday in an attempt to narrow the gap between domestic and global gold prices, the central bank announced on Sunday.

-- The number of visitors using the sea-crossing cable car service to explore Cat Ba Island off Cat Hai District in the northern city of Hai Phong reached a new high of over 5,300 on Sunday, after the service operator halved the ticket price to VND50,000 (US$2) per person per ride to enhance tourism sales.

-- Vietnam’s conglomerate Vingroup and Japan’s Mitsubishi Corporation have signed a memorandum of understanding on comprehensive strategic cooperation. The partnership focuses on five key areas, including urban development, data center development, renewable energy, used cooking oil recycling, and the automotive industry, the Vietnam News Agency reported.

-- Three Vietnamese students who were announced as the winners of the national final round of the 2024 Adobe Certified Professional World Championship (ACP World Championship) in Hanoi on Sunday will represent Vietnam to compete in the world final scheduled to take place in the U.S. in late July. The ACP World Championship is a global competition that tests students’ design skills using Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign.

-- OPEC+ agreed on Sunday to extend most of its deep oil output cuts well into 2025 as the group seeks to shore up the market amid tepid demand growth, high interest rates and rising rival U.S. production, Reuters reported.

-- Nvidia Chief Executive Jensen Huang said on Sunday that the company's next-generation artificial intelligence (AI) chip platform was called Rubin and would be rolled out in 2026, according to Reuters.
