A heavy downpour pounded Da Nang City, the capital of central Vietnam, on Wednesday morning, leaving tens of houses waterlogged.
Several houses along Ha Thi Than Street in An Hai Tay Ward, Son Tra District were inundated with dark, polluted water following the heavy rainfall.
The combination of rainwater and blackish run-off from sewers caused flooding in homes situated down the narrow alleys along the street during the downpour.

Nguyen Duc Phuc, a 37-year-old resident of the ward, hurriedly entered his mother’s house at 6:00 am the same day to help her combat the flooding and take her to a safer place.
Nguyen Thi Ngoc Tinh, a 50-year-old local, said that she had to clean her house right after the rainwater began receding, lamenting that many furniture items inside were drenched in dirty water.
Many people in the residential area quickly moved their furniture and valuables to higher ground due to concerns over flooding when it started to rain.
Some locals bemoaned that though they reside in the heart of the city, they are tired of facing flooding following each downpour.
They have faced severe floods after rains since last year.
Nguyen Van Huu, vice-chairman of the An Hai Tay Ward People’s Committee, noted that following abnormal flooding in these alleys in May, the ward took proactive measures by inspecting and dredging the sewers and canals on Ha Thi Than and Tran Hung Dao Streets to remove mud and debris.
Despite these efforts, households continue to experience flooding after heavy rainfall, he added.
The ward has deployed teams to assist affected households in managing the ongoing flooding.
