Internationally renowned film directors Oliver Stone and Phillip Noyce will promote Vietnam tourism and cinema in the United States, according to organizers who revealed the plan at a press conference in Hanoi on Monday.
The Vietnam Tourism and Cinema Promotion Program in the United States, organized by the Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism, is scheduled for September 23 to 25 in San Francisco and Los Angeles, California.
According to the organizing committee, the program will feature representatives from the ministry, the Vietnam National Authority of Tourism, and key localities such as Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, Ninh Binh Province, and Quang Binh Province.
These localities have existing tourism and cinema cooperation with the United States and will be joined by Vietnamese tourism businesses, film companies, and actors.
Attendees from the U.S. will include government officials, management agencies, associations, chambers of commerce, investors, and key figures from the film industry such as producers, directors, and Hollywood stars.
The list of attendees was compiled with the help of Indochina Productions, led by Thai-American producer Nicholas Simen.

Notable attendees from the film industry include directors Phillip Noyce, Jordan Vogt-Roberts, and Oliver Stone, as well as location scouts Leann Emmert and Lori Balton, and producer Justin Booth.
Noyce is known for The Quiet American, Vogt-Roberts and Emmert are celebrated for Kong: Skull Island, Stone has won three Oscars, Balton is recognized for Top Gun: Maverick, and Booth is known for The Challenge.
Approximately 100 leading U.S. news agencies and media outlets, including Reuters, CNN, The New York Times, The Hollywood Reporter, and The Los Angeles Times, are scheduled to cover the event.
Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports, and Tourism Ho An Phong notes this is the first large-scale, official promotion program of its kind.
He acknowledged that while perfection is not expected, the experience gained will improve future efforts.
The Vietnam National Authority of Tourism has reported strong interest from nearly 1,000 U.S. partners, though the organizing committee plans to select about 500 high-quality participants related to tourism and cinema.
