Police in Ben Thanh Ward, District 1, Ho Chi Minh City on Saturday levied an administrative fine on a 28-year-old New Zealander after he was caught vandalizing a property along Nguyen Du Street with graffiti.

The man sullied the roll-up door of the house at 114 Nguyen Du Street and was discovered early on Saturday morning while police officers went on patrol in the area.

The man admitted to his act of vandalism.

Therefore, he got an administrative fine for his offenses of spraying paint, scrawling graffiti, or attaching any image to walls, power poles, and other locations in public places, apartment buildings, and residential areas without permission from authorities.

The foreigner was also required to restore the status quo of the facility’s roll-up door.

Residents are urged to film and report similar incidents of vandalism to the nearest police station so local authorities can impose strict penalties on offenders in an effort to combat the issue in the southern metropolis.
