A hot-air balloon carrying nine people made an emergency landing in an open field near Provincial Road 412 in Ba Vi District, Hanoi on Saturday due to a technical issue, local authorities confirmed on Sunday.

Images and information of the incident have surfaced on social media since Sunday.

A leader of the administration in Tay Dang Town, Ba Vi District said the landing occurred at about 10:00 am on Saturday.

The hot-air balloon departed from Son Tay, a district-level town in the capital city, carrying nine passengers.

When reaching Ba Vi, it had to make an emergency landing at a site some 10 kilometers from the departure spot.

The leader of the Tay Dang Town administration rejected rumors of the hot-air balloon falling, affirming that it met with a technical issue.

The hot-air balloon had been approved for flying.

The incident did not result in any casualties, the official in Tay Dang Town said, adding that it was resolved after 30 minutes.
