-- A South Korean delegation led by Prime Minister Han Duck Soo will visit Vietnam from Wednesday to Thursday to attend the state funeral of General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam Nguyen Phu Trong, the South Korean Embassy in Hanoi announced on Tuesday.

-- Authorities in Binh Phuoc Province, southern Vietnam said on Tuesday afternoon that they were dealing with a suspected poisoning incident in which 63 industrial park workers had to seek emergency medical attention after having lunch at their workplace the same day.

-- Torrential rain throughout Tuesday due to the impact of storm Prapiroon, the second to affect Vietnam this year, brought severe inundation and traffic chaos to many major roads in Hanoi the same day.

-- Trucks with a load-carrying capacity of over five metric tons and trailer trucks are banned from traveling on an overpass at Thu Duc Intersection in Thu Duc City, under the jurisdiction of Ho Chi Minh City, from July 27 to serve the three-month construction of a footbridge of the city’s first metro line.

-- The national weather agency has warned of more intense rainfall accompanied by possible flash floods and landslides in northern Vietnam and the two north-central provinces of Thanh Hoa and Nghe An until Thursday as a result of storm Prapiroon.

-- More than 60 Vietnamese enterprises are taking part in the eighth China-South Asia Expo and the 28th Kunming Import and Export Fair, which opened in Kunming City, Yunnan Province, China on Tuesday, the Vietnam News Agency reported.

-- Vietnam's low-cost carrier Vietjet and planemaker Airbus on Tuesday signed a contract for the purchase of 20 new-generation wide-body A330neo (A330-900) aircraft valued at US$7.4 billion at the Farnborough International Airshow 2024, held from July 22 to 26 in the UK.

World News

-- The death toll from two landslides in southern Ethiopia has jumped to 229 and could rise further as the search for survivors and casualties continued into a second day, a government official said on Tuesday, Reuters reported.

-- Out-of-control wildfires forced some 25,000 people to evacuate the picturesque tourist town of Jasper and its surroundings in Canada's Rocky Mountains early on Tuesday, as wildfires spread across the western provinces of Alberta and British Columbia, according to Reuters.
