Police in District 1, Ho Chi Minh City detained and launched legal proceedings against three tourists of Australian nationality for fighting others and causing chaos in the central business district.
The trio, including Amin Huzaifah, 24, Anthony Vu Phi Long Pham, 35, and Nguyen Michael, 29, were charged with disturbing public order.
At about 1:20 am on June 29, the three and some 10 others reached Atmost Bar on Ton That Dam Street in Ben Nghe Ward, District 1 and got involved in an argument with another group of Minh Nguyen, Hai Nguyen, and Tang Tung Thanh, also of Australian nationality.
Being afraid that the two groups might have a fight, security guards at the bar asked them to leave.
In front of the bar, Anthony Vu Phi Long Pham and his friends attacked the other group but caused no injuries.
The group of Minh Nguyen later came to Pasteur Street to pick up vehicles to go home, but Anthony Vu Phi Long Pham and his friends followed and beat them at the intersection of Pasteur and Ton That Thiep Streets, slightly injuring Minh Nguyen and his friends.
Upon receiving reports from local residents, police in Ben Nghe Ward and District 1 rushed to the scene and took everyone involved to the police station.
Anthony Vu Phi Long Pham and his friends claimed they were in Vietnam for travel. However, due to their intoxication, they lost control of their actions and attacked Minh Nguyen and his friends.
