The number of divorces registered in Hai Duong Province, northern Vietnam in the first half of 2024 amounted to 63 percent of the marriages recorded in the same period.

The province recorded 4,235 marriages and 2,696 divorces between January and June.

At a seminar on building prosperous, progressive, happy, and civilized families, held by the Hai Duong Labor Federation on July 7, speakers noted that these divorces predominantly occurred among families of workers and public employees.

Representatives from the People’s Court and the Department of Justice of Hai Duong Province reported that there were 10,674 marriages and 5,071 divorces – equating to a 47-percent divorce rate – in 2023.

Overall, from 2023 through the first half of 2024, the total number of divorces in Hai Duong represented more than 52 percent of the total number of marriages.

According to data from the People’s Court of Hai Duong Province, between October 1, 2023 and June 30, 2024, the province handled 4,051 marriage and family dispute cases, 3,377 of which were resolved.

These cases made up approximately 61 percent of the total cases handled, with the majority being divorce settlements.

The People’s Court of Hai Duong Province attributes the primary causes of these marriage and family cases to differences in life perspectives, lack of care from spouses living abroad, and disagreements over family finances.
