A 40-year-old woman was injured when an uprooted tree fell onto a busy road in Thanh Khe District, Da Nang City, central Vietnam during a rainstorm on Wednesday afternoon.
The victim, identified as V., makes her living as a soft drink street vendor.
The incident occurred around 4:30 p.m. as she was packing up her cart to head home amid heavy rain and strong winds.
The uprooted tree fell onto the street vendor and her cart, causing injuries to her arm, an eyewitness recounted.
Several residents joined hands to lift the tree up and rushed her to a nearby hospital for emergency care.
The uprooted tree blocked a section of Ong Ich Khiem Street and brought traffic to a halt, local police confirmed the same day.
Authorities dispatched two vehicles and 13 rescuers to the scene, who managed to clear the road and restore traffic within about 15 minutes.
