Kon Plong District in Kon Tum Province was struck by nine earthquakes between 00:00 am and 3:10 pm on Thursday, with the strongest one measuring 4.4 on the Richter scale, according to the Institute of Geophysics.
The magnitude-4.4 quake hit the district at 1:30 pm before a magnitude-4 tremor struck at 2:59 pm.
The remaining tremors reached magnitudes ranging between 2.5 and 3.4.
The Institute of Geophysics added that these quakes, whose depths varied from 8km to 8.3km, posed no disaster risk.
The Vietnam Earthquake Information and Tsunami Warning Center under this institute is keeping a close watch on the quakes.
Earlier this week, Kon Plong was jolted by four earthquakes on Wednesday and 10 others on Tuesday, with a magnitude of 2.8 to 4.2.
Nguyen Xuan Anh, head of the Institute of Geophysics, elaborated that the consecutive tremors in Kon Plong are considered induced earthquakes resulting from human activities, such as the construction of reservoirs and hydropower dams, mining activities, or nuclear explosions.
He forecast that Kon Tum will continue to experience earthquakes in the near future, but their magnitudes are unlikely to exceed 5.5.
In Vietnam, tremors with magnitudes ranging from five to 5.9 are assessed as moderate and capable of causing minor to moderate damage.
Meanwhile, quakes with a magnitude of 4 to 4.9 are deemed small tremors.
