A foreign tourist trapped in a restroom of a hotel in downtown Ho Chi Minh City in a state of panic was rescued by the 115 Emergency Center in mid-September.
Dr. Nguyen Duy Long, director of the center, told Tuoi Tre (Youth) newspaper on Friday that the center had saved a female foreigner stuck in a bathroom on September 13.
The center received an emergency call from a foreigner, who spoke English, at 9:00 am on that day.
She was terrified as she got trapped in a restroom of a hotel in District 1 for more than 30 minutes.
Her fear of being locked up made her forget the hotel address, but after speaking with the nurses and doctors at the center, she calmed down and was able to provide the hotel name.
The medical team quickly located the hotel and reached out to hotel employees to rescue the foreigner.
She was freed 15 minutes after her call.
Throughout the case, a caller number locator and English language speaking software played a key role, according to the 115 Emergency Center.
It is vital to popularize emergency numbers, including 113 for criminal emergencies, and 114 and 115 for fire and medical emergency reports, respectively, at hotels, tourist areas, and public places to guarantee the safety of tourists.
