A 37-year-old container truck driver died after he crashed the vehicle into a house in Cu Chi, an outlying district in Ho Chi Minh City, last weekend.

The accident happened at about 12:45 pm on October 5.

A container truck was traveling on Road No. 8 in Cu Chi District when it suddenly veered into the opposite lane and crashed into a house, causing the front section of the residence to collapse.

An old woman inside the house narrowly escaped.

Dashcam footage showed that at the time of the accident, the driver was distracted by watching an iPad instead of focusing on driving.

Police in Cu Chi District are still looking further into the cause of the crash.

They believed the driver had been operating the vehicle for more than four hours before the accident, according to Thanh Nien (Young People) newspaper.

Footage shows the container truck crashing into a house in Cu Chi District, Ho Chi Minh City.
