Police in Ho Chi Minh City have helped a German traveler get back his necklace several hours after he had the item snatched by local men in District 1.
Law enforcement officers in the district announced on Thursday the arrest of Huynh Quoc Hung, 39, and Truong Ngoc Phong, 41, both from District 8, for allegedly snatching a necklace from 46-year-old German tourist Fahrner Sascha.
The stolen necklace was returned to Sascha later that evening.
At noon that day, as Sascha and a friend were crossing Nguyen Cu Trinh Street in District 1, Hung and Phong suddenly approached on a motorbike.
Phong, riding pillion, swiftly snatched Sascha's necklace.
The two sped away, but a nearby police patrol team spotted the incident and immediately pursued the perpetrators.
