-- Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, his spouse and a high-ranking delegation of Vietnam left Hanoi early on Saturday morning to attend the G20 Summit and join bilateral activities in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, until Tuesday, and pay an official visit to the Dominican Republic from Tuesday to Thursday.

-- State President Luong Cuong delivered a speech at the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Leaders’ Informal Dialogue with Guests in Lima on Thursday (local time).

-- Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh received a delegation of the International Monetary Fund’s 2024 Article IV Mission to Vietnam led by its head Paulo Medas in Hanoi on Thursday.

-- Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee, Phan Van Mai, chaired a reception on Friday evening for a delegation led by Bounchon Oubonpaseuth, secretary and governor of Savannakhet Province, Laos, who is visiting Ho Chi Minh City on a working trip.

-- Konstantin Sukhoverkhov, a Russian expert on international affairs, stated that Vietnam is one of the countries that could host a meeting between U.S. President-elect Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin.

Society

-- Starting December 2, the Ho Chi Minh City Institute for Development Studies is set to conduct a sociological survey of over 48,000 houses located on or along canals, as part of a project to relocate these homes.

-- Police in District 1, Ho Chi Minh City, are searching for a young man who fled the scene after his motorbike collided with two foreign women on Nguyen Hue Walking Street, leaving them injured and requiring hospitalization, accorfing to Cong An Nhan Dan (People’s Police) newspaper.

-- The Center for Disease Control in Binh Dinh Province, south-central Vietnam, reported on Friday that it had submitted a report to the Pasteur Institute of Nha Trang and the provincial Department of Health regarding a death caused by influenza A/H1pdm, according to the Vietnam News Agency.

-- The consumption of sugary soft drinks in Vietnam has surged from 1.59 billion liters in 2009 to 6.67 billion liters in 2023, marking an increase of 420 percent, according to the market research firm Euromonitor.
