Online Friday 2024, the biggest virtual shopping event of the year in Vietnam, has started since November 29, offering opportunities of online shopping for 60 hours on e-commerce platforms nationwide.

The Ministry of Industry and Trade on Friday evening conducted an opening ceremony for Online Friday 2024, scheduled from 0:00 am on Friday to 12:00 pm on Sunday, as part of the National E-Commerce Week that has commenced since Monday.

The 60-hour event aims to boost domestic product sales and enhance the online shopping experience for Vietnamese consumers, according to the ministry’s E-Commerce and Digital Economy Agency, the event’s organizer.

As the biggest online shopping event of this year, the event demonstrates the strong progress of Vietnamese goods in the e-commerce era.

Accordingly, it will focus on promoting sales of high-quality made-in-Vietnam products, and supporting the export of domestic products via e-commerce channels.

The Online Friday programs have been introduced on shopping websites and apps, featuring thousands of discounted products from Vietnamese businesses.

The event is participated by more than 30 departments of industry and trade and businesses across the country, along with content creators and operators on digital platforms, which are closely connected with brands and businesses to introduce and promote specialties nationwide.

Among prominent activities in the event will be livestream sessions conducted by some enterprises to feature Vietnamese products on online platforms, thereby facilitating consumers to purchase them across diverse distribution channels.

The Online Friday is also aimed at promoting cashless payments, ensuring secure transactions, and enhancing consumer trust in e-commerce platforms, the website said.

Speaking at the ceremony, Deputy Minister Nguyen Sinh Nhat Tan said that the agency always encourages Vietnamese businesses and brands to more and more participate in the e-commerce market, contributing to the development of the country’s digital economy.

To make the annual Online Friday a success, the ministry has requested all enterprises involved to meet the requirements of clear origin and authenticity of the product, thereby gaining trust of consumers during online shipping.

All discount and sale promotion programs during the event will be closely monitored to ensure legitimate interests of buyers, the official added.

The National E-Commerce Week including Online Friday is one of the annual activities to implement the National E-commerce Development Program for the period 2021-25 approved by the government, with an aim to build a healthy, competitive and sustainable e-commerce market in Vietnam, the ministry said.
