Authorities from Lam Dong and Khanh Hoa Provinces joined forces to provide food, accelerate cleanup efforts, and evacuate more than 350 residents and tourists, including 13 foreigners, from the Khanh Le Pass in Khanh Hoa, located in south-central Vietnam, stranded by landslides on Sunday night.

The group was trapped for nearly 12 hours between landslide spots on Khanh Le Pass and could neither travel to Nha Trang City in Khanh Hoa Province or to Lam Dong, Vietnamnet reported.

A total of five landslides occurred from Sunday morning to the afternoon along a seven-kilometer road section with some 30,000 cubic meters of soil and rocks eroded.

Relief actions and evacuations continued until Sunday night.

Traffic police in Lam Dong Province hired residential excavators to remove soil and rocks on the road to access the stranded people.

Meanwhile, Khanh Hoa authorities dispatched 16 militia, self-defense, and police officers to the landslide scenes.

Local authorities are spending efforts to expedite the clearing of the landslides, said Chu Van An, deputy director of the Khanh Hoa Department of Transport.

They also confirmed that officials have been assigned to protect motorbikes left on the mountain pass.
