Frost has appeared on the summit of Fansipan in the northern province of Lao Cai for the second time this winter, with temperatures at Vietnam’s highest peak dropping to -1 degree Celsius.
According to Sun World Fansipan Legend, a tourism area in Lao Cai, the temperature at Fansipan peak, at an altitude of 3,143 meters, was recorded at -1 degree Celsius at around 6:00 am on Monday, marking the first time this winter that temperatures have fallen below freezing at the peak.
A thin layer of frost covered tree branches, wooden floors, and sightseeing paths from around 3:00 am, lasting roughly four hours before sunrise.

Ice forms when water vapor is condensed into a solid, porous, white-salt-like state, a phenomenon that occurs when air temperatures drop below four degrees Celsius.
On November 23, a light frost also appeared on Fansipan when temperatures reached two degrees Celsius.
Forecasts indicate that temperatures at Fansipan will remain low in the coming days, with frost potentially returning in the mornings.
