Nguyen Van Vu, a 30-year-old from Nam Dinh Province in northern Vietnam, has been arrested for selling counterfeit Japanese-branded eye drops to over 10,000 customers nationwide, profiting illegally by more than VND3 billion (US$118,000).

Provincial police confirmed on Tuesday that Vu has been charged with fraudulent appropriation of property.

According to police, Vu purchased inexpensive Chinese eye drops, along with packaging, labels, and trademarks designed to imitate Japanese brands.

He then advertised the counterfeit products on social media, using deceptive claims to lure customers.

Once orders were placed, Vu packaged the fake products and sent them through cash-on-delivery services.

Preliminary investigations revealed that Vu's operation reached customers across Vietnam, generating illegal earnings exceeding $118,000.

Authorities are continuing their investigation into the case.
