Vietnam will compete against Japan, India, and Uzbekistan in Group C for Round 2 of the 2024 Women’s Olympic Football Asian Qualifiers, according to a draw held by the Asian Football Confederation in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia on Thursday.
Divided into four pots according to their seedings, 12 teams were drawn into three groups, vying for a limited allocation of two slots for the 2024 Olympics in France.
Australia, serving as the hosts of Group A, were paired with Taiwan, the Philippines, and Iran through the draw.
Group B, hosted by China, comprises South Korea, Thailand, and North Korea.
Group C will see Japan, Vietnam, hosts Uzbekistan, and India battle to advance to the next phase of the qualifiers.
After Round 2, scheduled for October 23 to November 1, the three group winners and the best-ranked runners-up will progress to Round 3 to play two sets of home and away matches, slated for February 24 and 28, 2024.
The two eventual winners of Round 3 will represent Asia to compete alongside 10 other nations from other confederations at the 2024 Women’s Olympic Football competition, which is set to take place in France from July 25, 2024 to August 10, 2024.
