Vietnamese female cyclist Nguyen Thi That showcased a strong sprint to win the first stage of the Tour of Thailand 2024 cycling tournament on Monday.

That was reunited with the Vietnamese cycling team after competing at world-leading cycling tournaments as a member of the Israel Premier Tech Roland club.

The first stage of the Tour of Thailand 2024 is 112.7 kilometers long, stretching from Phitsanulok City to Sukhothai Historical Park.

The race was moderate in the first half before bikers accelerated.

They repeatedly split and merged under the control of Thai bikers.

That sped up slower than competitors in the last 500 meters of the stage, but she maintained the speed over a long distance, which helped her overtake all her rivals to finish the stage first.

The Tour of Thailand is an important tournament for That to prepare for the 2024 Paris Olympics, scheduled to take place from July 26 to August 11.

That would be the first Vietnamese cyclist in history to participate in the Olympic Games.
