The ASEAN Football Federation (AFF) announced on Tuesday evening the updated schedule for the ASEAN Championship 2024, formerly known as the AFF Championship, in which Vietnam will be competing.

The tournament will now run from December 8, 2024 to January 5, 2025, instead of its original dates from November 23 to December 21, 2024.

The AFF made this change to accommodate national teams with players competing in the AFC Champions League Elite 2024-25 and AFC Champions League Two 2024-25, as well as the Indonesian national team, who are participating in the third Asian qualifying round for the FIFA World Cup 2026.

The ASEAN Championship 2024 is the 15th edition of the football tournament for nations affiliated with the AFF.

Ten participating teams are divided into two groups of five, playing a round-robin format with each team having two home and two away fixtures.

The top two teams from each group will advance to the knockout stages, which consist of two-legged semi-finals and finals.

Vietnam are in Group B alongside Indonesia, the Philippines, Myanmar, and Laos while Group A includes Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore, Cambodia, and either Brunei or Timor-Leste.
