Le Nguyen Bao Ngoc, from Vietnam, was crowned Miss Intercontinental 2022 at the pageant’s finale in Egypt on Saturday, becoming the first Vietnamese contestant to win the title.

The 21-year-old beauty from Can Tho City, Vietnam’s Mekong Delta region, was honored after surpassing 70 other candidates from different countries and territories around the world.

The beauty queen was followed by five runners-up, namely Mariela Pepin from Puerto Rico, Cecília Almeida from Brazil, Joy Raimi from Nigeria, Tatjana Genrich from Germany, and Emmy Carrero from Venezuela.

In the final night, Ngoc not only showed her confidence and outstanding beauty in the national costume and evening gown performances, but also presented good communication skills through the eloquence and behavior categories.

During the interview round, Ngoc delivered a persuasive answer to the judges' question: From which failure in your life helped you learn the most?

“For me, my biggest failure does not lie on the failure itself but in the fact that I might not have tried enough and did not try my best, which led to the failure.

“Therefore, in my life, I have learned that whatever I do, I must put my heart and soul into it.

“And for me, at this given moment, the thing I want to conquer the most is to live up to the title of Miss Intercontinental, and to do that, I have made a promise with my people in Vietnam that I am going to be the ambassador to bring and spread and elaborate the message of Miss Intercontinental; of power, beauty, love, grace, and cultural interaction.

“That is who I am. The time has come and Vietnam is ready for the title of Miss Intercontinental,” Ngoc answered.

Ngoc is currently a student at the International University of Ho Chi Minh City. She was named Miss World Vietnam 2022's first runner-up.
