Numerous families and young people in Hanoi favor round-the-clock coffee shops over traditional cafés and indoor playgrounds to relish the delightful weather and renew their workspace.

Nguyen Thuy, a resident of Cau Giay District, turned off her laptop to return home at 1:00 am on Sunday after working all night at a round-the-clock coffee shop near the iconic West Lake.

The 24/7 shop is crowded from 9:00 pm to 1:00 am.

“I visited the shop at 5:00 pm on Saturday to watch the sunset and complete my assignments,” Thuy recounted.

“Due to working at my office all week, I spend my weekend venturing out for both relaxing and completing my duties, so I traveled to the shop and brought my laptop along."

Many other young people can drink coffee or work at the coffee shop from night until dawn.

While the youth are seeing the café as a relaxing workplace, many families are choosing to take their children to the coffee shop for amusement due to its wide sand yard.

“We often select the coffee shops that allow children and have a playground so that our kids can play happily, and we do not spend much time taking care of them,” said Nguyen Huy, who lives in Bac Tu Liem District,.

Covering an area of over 30,000 square meters, the coffee shop features all outdoor seats, bringing fresh air, comfort, and a restful atmosphere to café-goers. They can opt to be seated on a mat, a chair, or a beanbag.

The trend of enjoying the space at a round-the-clock coffee shop went viral on TikTok, making the coffee shop famous quickly.

Traveling for 20 kilometers to approach the trendy coffee shop, Le Huu Kim Anh, a freshman at Phenikaa University in Ha Dong District, and her friends threw a party on her birthday.

They just paid for their drinks, and were not charged for bringing food along, while their time was not limited, Kim Anh said.

“I have visited the cafe twice. We can chat at the shop comfortably without worrying about loud noise or bothering others like when we are in an indoor shop,” according to Kim Anh.

Moreover, the flexible arrangement of tents and beanbags seems to bring guests to a campsite, she added.

The under-the-coconut tree venue of the shop is the most sought-after as it overlooks a nearby flower valley. The space sparkles with lights, making it look like a real beach.

The coffee shop serves an average of 200-300 clients each night, double the figure of café-goers during the daytime, said an employee.

They often visit the shop to study, sing songs, and chat, while some others go for a sleep, the staffer said.

Drinks at the shop are priced from VND50,000 (US$2.06) to VND70,000 ($2.89) each.

At night, café-goers can enjoy music shows and watch live football matches shown on a large screen.

Another popular 24/7 coffee shop lies on Tong Duy Tan Street in Hanoi, boasting an airy space.

Developing various nighttime tourism products is one of the municipal tourism agencies’ strategies to attract local and international visitors.

In late November, the city will debut nighttime ancient town tours to fascinate travelers.
