Khanh Hoa Province in south-central Vietnam will host an international drone light show contest, the first-ever in the country, in the beach resort city of Nha Trang this summer, attracting four teams from China, India, South Korea, and the host country, local tourism authorities announced on Wednesday.
The drone light festival, entitled ‘Ever Glamour Nha Trang 2024,' is slated to take place every Saturday evening for four weeks from June 29 to July 20 in the city, according to the provincial Department of Tourism.
The department has announced that the initial two evenings of the competition are scheduled to take place at April 2 Square on Tran Phu Street, while the third and final days of the event will be held on Hon Tre Island in Nha Trang Bay.
The festival is expected to attract over 50,000 direct spectators each night in the performance area, along with 2,000 guests.

During each contest night, the teams will take turns to perform artistic light shows with drones for about 15-20 minutes according to the specific theme set for that particular evening.
The minimum number of drones of each team will be 1,000.
The first competition day, June 29, will be highlighted with the theme of ‘Hello Vietnam.’
The second, third, and fourth days of the festival, on July 6, 13 and 20, respectively, will be held with the corresponding topics of ‘Glorious Ocean,’ ‘Stories of Heritage Land,’ and ‘Glamor Nha Trang.’
The prize awarding ceremony will be organized at the end of the last competition day.
Before each official drone performance, the teams will conduct their rehearsals to ensure the best results of their gigs, according to Corex Business Solutions Joint Stock Company, a coordinator of the event’s organizing board.
As each contest night is associated with its own theme, the teams must design their drones to make images reflecting that theme, focusing on featuring the image of Khanh Hoa and Vietnam in general in the most impressive ways, said Nguyen Minh Thang, director of the company.
“To achieve this, competing teams must learn about Vietnamese culture and people,” he added.

Last year, at the Nha Trang - Khanh Hoa Beach Festival 2023 lasting from June 3 to 6, over 1,650 drones were used to artistically form different words and spectacular structures in the air, lighting up the sky over Nha Trang Bay.
After the successful drone art show, which drew special attention from millions of people in Vietnam and abroad, the provincial administration agreed with the proposal of the tourism department to organize an international light show festival entitled ‘Ever Glamour Nha Trang 2024’ as an annual event.
Such a contest will further diversify local tourism products, contributing to attracting more domestic and international visitors to the province, the department said.
In 2023, Khanh Hoa welcomed about seven million visitors, an increase of 170.5 percent compared to 2022, including about 2.1 million international visitors, a sharp surge of 7.1 times, the Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism reported, citing the provincial tourism development steering board.
The province’s tourism revenue reached nearly VND31,800 billion (US$1.3 billion) last year, up 127.5 percent from a year earlier.
The local tourism sector has set a target of receiving nine million travelers including three million foreigners in 2024.
