An affluent Indian couple is set to commence their opulent wedding celebrations in Ha Long City, located in the northern Vietnamese province of Quang Ninh, on Friday, marking the second occasion that this renowned tourist destination has been chosen by the Indian elite for hosting such lavish events, local tourism authorities said on Wednesday.

Scheduled for three days, from February 16 to 18, the grand event will unfold at the Vinpearl Resort and Spa Ha Long, according to the Quang Ninh Province Department of Tourism.

This five-star tourist site is situated on Reu Island in Ha Long City.

The groom, Vivek Dinodiya, is an Indian billionaire and the director of PL Global Impex Pte Ltd. His bride is Anmol Garg.

The extravagant wedding is set to host hundreds of guests, including officials from the Indian government and the Indian Embassy in Vietnam.

Notable attendees will also include prominent entrepreneurs from India and various Southeast Asian countries, such as Singapore, Thailand, and Cambodia, the department said.

The preparations for the wedding, encompassing guest reception, wedding ceremonial rituals, and gastronomy, have been thoroughly completed, as confirmed by both the resort's management board and the event organizers.

The groom, along with his family, reportedly surveyed numerous potential wedding venues before choosing the resort as the most suitable for the occasion.

This marks the second instance within approximately one year that Ha Long has been chosen by Indian billionaires as their preferred wedding venue.

On February 4-6 last year, a lavish wedding of the wealthy Indian groom Dhruv Taneja and his bride Shravya Bakliwal occurred at the same resort, attracting over 400 guests from India's elite circles.

The upcoming wedding presents a valuable opportunity for the local tourism sector to enhance the promotion of the renowned natural wonder, Ha Long Bay, to international visitors, according to the department.

In addition to Ha Long, two other renowned destinations in Vietnam, Da Nang City on the central coast, and Phu Quoc Island City in Kien Giang Province in the Mekong Delta region, have been chosen by Indian billionaires as wedding venues in recent years.

In March 2019, a lavish week-long wedding ceremony was held for the groom Rushang Shah and his bride Kaabia Grewal at the JW Marriott Hotel in Phu Quoc, attended by nearly 700 guests.

In November of the same year, an affluent Indian family organized a four-day wedding celebration for their daughter at the Sheraton Grand Da Nang Resort in Da Nang, with over 650 attendees.

More recently, in January 2023, a five-day extravagant wedding event occurred in Da Nang for the groom Gaurav Palrecha and his bride Tuisha Seksaria, hosting over 350 invitees.
