Four designs by 25-year-old Vietnamese fashion designer Phan Huy graced the red carpet of the 2024 Cannes Film Festival in May.

Singer-songwriter Ginta donned two of Huy’s creations during the festival while travel and fashion influencer Stephania Morales and model Anna Olbrycht wore one each. 

"I was both nervous and happy to see my work make it on to the red carpet of a prestigious international film festival,” Huy told Tuoi Tre (Youth) newspaper.

“The international market is tough but it’s hugely inspiring to introduce the work and creativity of Vietnamese people to the world."

Huy first gained popularity with his collections posted on social media. 

“Thanks to introductions from Steven Doan, a London-based stylist of Vietnamese origin, my designs were brought closer to the celebrities,” Huy said.  

According to Huy, collaborating with the celebrities who donned his dresses was done via text messages and emails. 

"After designing the dresses, our crew sent them to the celebrities, and Steven Doan was the one who helped with styling and fitting,” Huy shared. 

Phan Huy graduated as a valedictorian from the fashion cohort of the University of Architecture Ho Chi Minh City in 2023.

Within just one year of graduating, he found himself working with celebrities from both in and outside Vietnam. 

"The international market requires creativity, so I constantly try to improve myself and innovate my designs in order to keep up with global fashion trends,” Huy said. 

In Vietnam, singer Ho Ngoc Ha, model Thanh Hang, singer Chi Pu, actress Nha Phuong, singer Hari Won, and singer Minh Hang have all been spotted wearing Huy’s designs.
