K-pop girl group BLACKPINK - often hailed as the ‘biggest girl group in the world’ - embraced Vietnamese culture by wearing ‘nón lá’ (conical hats) and ‘khăn rằn’ (traditional black-and-white checkered scarves) at a fansign event, where they signed autographs and chatted with fans earlier this week in celebration of their eight debut anniversary.

Thursday’s event marked the first time BLACKPINK members reunited as a group after a long period focusing on individual activities.

The gathering not only thrilled fans with its fun and heartwarming interactions but also sparked excitement within the Vietnamese online community.

The four members, donning Vietnamese conical hats and traditional scarves, became a trending topic as the images were quickly shared across social media, garnering widespread engagement.

The attire was a thoughtful gift from a Vietnamese fan specifically for the fansign event.

The members delighted in posing for photos and expressed their affection by saying “I love Vietnam” in both English and Vietnamese.

During the fansign, BLACKPINK announced their plans to make a comeback in 2025.

Many fans are hopeful that this return will include a visit to Vietnam in the near future.

BLACKPINK, who debuted in August 2016, has shattered numerous records throughout their career.

Their music videos for ‘Kill This Love’ in 2019 and ‘How You Like That’ in 2020 set records for the most-viewed music videos within the first 24 hours of release, with ‘How You Like That’ breaking five Guinness World Records.

The group is the highest-charting female South Korean act on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100, peaking at number 13 with ‘Ice Cream’ in 2020, and on the U.S. Billboard 200, where their album ‘Born Pink’ reached number one in 2022.

Their ‘Born Pink World Tour’ in 2022–23 became the highest-grossing concert tour by a female group and an Asian act, and they were the first Asian act to headline the famous California-based annual music and arts festival Coachella.

BLACKPINK holds the title of the most-subscribed and most-viewed music artist channel on YouTube and is the most-followed and most-streamed girl group on Spotify.

Beyond music, they have secured endorsement deals across various industries and prominently feature fashion in their public image.

The group was the first girl group to be included in Forbes’ 30 Under 30 Asia and was named Time’s 2022 Entertainer of the Year.

They have consistently ranked high on the Forbes Korea Power Celebrity 40 list and were recognized by former South Korean President Moon Jae-in for their role in promoting K-pop and Korean culture globally.
