The Thu Duc City People’s Committee in Ho Chi Minh City held a press conference on Thursday to announce that they expect to hosts 20,000 guests at a New Year countdown festival later this year.
Nguyen Thanh Giang, a representative of the organizing committee, announced that the City Tet Fest Thu Duc 2025 will feature live music on its opening night on December 28 and during a New Year countdown celebration on December 31.
These events will showcase 40 domestic and international artists, with details to be announced in the coming weeks.
Stage director Nhi Nguyen noted that a large-scale stage, modeled after a giant speaker design, will span approximately 60 meters.
Attendees can also enjoy other technology exhibitions and activities during the event.

The festival will run from December 28, 2024 to January 1, 2025, about three weeks ahead of the 2025 Tet (Vietnamese Lunar New Year) Festival, at Saigon Riverside Park in Thu Thiem Ward, Thu Duc City.
It aims to offer a festive atmosphere while offering activities centered around traditional Tet food, entertainment, and shopping.
Nguyen Ky Phung, deputy chairman of the Thu Duc People’s Committee, stated that the festival will celebrate the fourth anniversary of the establishment of Thu Duc City, a district-level unit of Ho Chi Minh City.

He said that Saigon Riverside Park’s history of hosting large-scale events, such as the Ho Chi Minh City International Music Festival (HOZO), 'Anh trai vuot ngan chong gai' (Call Me By Fire), and 'Anh trai say hi' (Say Hi to Bros).
Phung hoped that the countdown night would attract over 20,000 attendees and enhance Thu Duc’s appeal as a tourist destination.
Addressing noise concerns from nearby residents, he assured that the local government would keep them informed of relevant information and encourage their support for the local cultural activities.
