Vietnamese cuisine is adored by foodies around the globe, and its popularity only keeps growing as the world continues to discover the diversity of dishes in each of the country’s regions.

Perhaps the most underrated Vietnamese cuisine is that found in the central region, and anyone taking a road trip through the area would be remiss to skip over its famous local food stalls.

Ba Lu bun cha ca (fishcake noodle soup) is a must-try for visitors in Da Nang.

Just hop in any taxi and the driver should be able to get you to this beloved stall on Hung Vuong Street in Thanh Khe District.

Mi Quang (Quang noodles) is another local hit in Da Nang. A bowl of these yellow noodles is sure to leave your stomach full and your taste buds happy.

Heading south to Binh Dinh Province, make sure to check out Muoi Dien on National Highway No.19 in Tay Giang Commune, Tay Son District.

This beloved local restaurant is famous for its affordable fresh water fish and fermented fish paste.

In neighboring Phu Yen Province, Hoa Da food stall in Hoa Da Village, An My Commune, Tuy An District in perhaps the most well-known haunt.

Diners visit Hoa Da from near and far to try the chao long (intestine porridge), banh hoi (soft thin vermicelli noodles), banh trang thit luoc (boiled pork served with rice paper and vegetables), and other local delights.

South of Phu Yen, in Khanh Hoa Province, Dien Khanh banh uot (steamed rice paper) stall in Dien Khanh District is definitely a must-try.

Driving back towards Ho Chi Minh City from Khanh Hoa, travelers pass through Binh Thuan Province where they can try a bowl of chao trang la dua (pandan-flavored rice porridge) in the Nga Bay area in Phan Thiet Market, Phan Thiet City.
