A new air route connecting Vietnam’s central city of Da Nang and the Qatari capital city of Doha has been launched, with the Vietnamese side hoping that the service will help open up a world of connectivity for customers and contribute to the Southeast Asian country’s tourism and trade.
The Qatar Airways flight QR 994, carrying 192 passengers on a 254-seat Boeing B787, touched down at Da Nang International Airport on Wednesday afternoon.
The inaugural flight marked the start of the first-ever direct service between Da Nang and the West Asian city.
The Da Nang is the third Vietnamese city to be linked with Qatar via a direct route, besides Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City.
The new service, operated with Boeing B787s, now connects Da Nang to more than 150 business and leisure destinations in the Middle East, Western Europe and North America.
Flights on this new route depart on Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday from Da Nang, and on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday from Doha, according to Qatar Airways.
Da Nang administrators previously launched several activities in order to promote the new service, including sending local artists to Doha for culture exchange, and welcoming well-known tour operators, media outlets and bloggers from Qatar, the Middle East and Europe to the city.
In addition, the Vietnamese city also coordinated with Qatar Airways to advertise its tourism to the European market, attracting European visitors to Da Nang through connecting flights in Doha.
