After the success of the ‘Developer Circles Vietnam Innovation Challenge’ in Ho Chi Minh City in 2019, Facebook has launched another exciting training program.

The social media firm, in partnership with the Office of the Initiative for Startup Ecosystems in Vietnam (The Office of Project 844) and CoderSchool, on Tuesday launched ‘Developer Circles Vietnam Innovation Challenge’ in Hanoi.

As part of the #fb4Innovation pillar of the ‘Facebook for Vietnam'’ campaign, the training and competition initiative for technology students will equip young engineers with skills in high demand in the digital age.

The six-month training program is for tech students in year three and four, as well as those who graduated within the last two years in the Vietnamese capital.

Upon the program’s completion, 300 young engineers will have new skills in product management, data science, and React Native.

The training program was inspired by Project 844 about ‘Supporting the National Innovation Initiative to 2025’ (ISEV) aiming to support startups.

The Developer Circles Vietnam Innovation Challenge, within the scope of the ‘Facebook for Vietnam’ campaign, will play a great part in nurturing domestic technical talents, attracting local businesses, promoting the development of the national innovation startup ecosystem, and supporting the government in accomplishing the Industry 4.0 agenda.

Along with training, participants in Hanoi will be able to address real business challenges set by top firms like FPT Software, Viettel Digital Services, Teko Vietnam, Tripi, FSIxEPU, and TnTech, while receiving mentorship to create products that solve real-life problems.

“Developer Circles Vietnam Innovation Challenge in Ho Chi Minh City was a great success as 357 young developers were trained and upskilled and 80 graduates landed internships or junior roles at companies including Chotot, FE Credit, Sendo, Haravan, and Momo,” said Virginia Yang, director of developer partnerships and programs in APAC.

“This positive result is the motivation for us to continue bringing more opportunities to the students in Hanoi.

“With nearly 7,000 Developers Circles members across the country, our local community is growing stronger and actively contributing to enable Vietnam’s vision of becoming a digital nation.”

One notable difference of this year's program is the unique track for women, #TechbyHer.

Aiming to foster equal opportunities for women in tech, #TechbyHer is open to 50 women in their 3rd or 4th year of college or new graduates with up to two years of experience, no IT background required.

The women will form teams to build no-code or low-code Messenger bots as their final products.

Developer Circles Vietnam Innovation Challenge in Hanoi is part of the #fb4Innovation pillar of the ‘Facebook for Vietnam'’ campaign, one of 2020’s key programs of the social media giant in Vietnam.

By introducing #fb4Innovation, Facebook hopes to boost the digital transformation in Vietnamese companies through training on key Facebook technologies.

Facebook also wishes to nurture the next generation of Vietnamese tech talents by giving tech students training on innovative technology and job-readiness skills.
