The Ministry of Transport is seeking the prime minister’s nod to concurrently break ground on four expressway projects in southern Vietnam, namely Beltway No. 3 in Ho Chi Minh City, Khanh Hoa-Buon Ma Thuot, Bien Hoa-Vung Tau, and Chau Doc-Can Tho-Soc Trang, on June 18.

The ministry said in a report sent to the prime minister that the localities in charge of the development of these road projects had suggested different dates, ranging from June 17 to 30, and different locations to break ground on them.

To ensure the groundbreaking ceremonies take place in a formal and cost-efficient manner, the ministry proposed that they should be held on June 18 in a hybrid format in four locations.

In Ho Chi Minh City, the municipal administration would host the ceremony to start work on Beltway No. 3, with the participation of three neighboring provinces Dong Nai, Binh Duong, and Long An, through which the beltway will pass.

The ministry would hold the groundbreaking ceremony of the Khanh Hoa-Buon Ma Thuot expressway project in the Central Highlands province of Dak Lak.

This route will link the upland province with south-central Khanh Hoa Province.

In southern Ba Ria-Vung Tau Province, the provincial authorities would be responsible for the groundbreaking ceremony of the Bien Hoa-Vung Tau expressway project, which will connect the province with neighboring Dong Nai Province.

Regarding the Chau Doc-Can Tho-Soc Trang route, the Mekong Delta province of Soc Trang will host the ceremony, in coordination with relevant localities, including An Giang, Hau Giang, and Can Tho.

The transport ministry proposed that the prime minister attend the groundbreaking ceremony in Ho Chi Minh City, while deputy prime ministers would chair the ceremonies in the remaining three locations.
