Thai firms place great trust in Vietnam’s potential and investment climate, and desire to expand their reach in the country, Thai Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Parnpree Bahiddha-Nukara told Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh during their talks in Hanoi on Wednesday.

The top Thai official is on a two-day Vietnam visit, which was set to wrap up on Thursday.

Speaking at the meeting, PM Chinh said that Thailand is Vietnam’s largest trade partner in Southeast Asia, and is its ninth-biggest investor.

The top Vietnamese official suggested the two sides should enhance efforts to fulfill their target of bilateral trade at US$25 billion, remove trade barriers, and smooth goods import and export.

Besides, PM Chinh hinted at upgrading the strategic partnership between Vietnam and Thailand to a higher level, and bolstering all-level delegation exchanges.

The two nations should strengthen the connection between supply chains, economic sectors and firms, and boost cooperation in green and sustainable development, said PM Chinh.

Nukara underscored that Vietnam is one of Thailand’s key partners in the region, and potential for bilateral cooperation is huge.
