The administration in Ho Chi Minh City has approved a plan to organize the 2024 Cashless Day festival, dedicated to ‘Promoting the Development of Safe Cashless Payments,’ on Nguyen Hue Pedestrian Street in District 1 from June 14 to 16.

The event will feature a payment technology exhibition, seminars, and food booths applying cashless payment methods.

It is meant to encourage residents to experience new payment methods and create opportunities for small- and medium-sized enterprises to access modern payment technologies.

The Ho Chi Minh City administration assigned the municipal Department of Industry and Trade to coordinate with Tuoi Tre (Youth) newspaper, the State Bank of Vietnam - Ho Chi Minh City Branch, commercial banks, relevant agencies, districts, and Thu Duc City to execute the plan to hold the Cashless Day.

The city also required the State Bank of Vietnam - Ho Chi Minh City Branch and commercial banks to proactively offer cashless payment services, especially during the festival.

The Department of Industry and Trade, Department of Culture and Sports, and Department of Tourism should join hands with relevant agencies to encourage cashless payments in all activities during the event, from vehicle parking to shopping.

The city also required ensuring security, traffic safety, fire and explosion prevention and control, and hygiene to make it a success.

The municipal administration also emphasized the importance of cashless payment methods to enhance the transparency and effectiveness of economic management activities and contribute to developing a smart and modern society.

The 2024 Cashless Day will feature 82 booths for product and service display, including booths for online public services, a sales area accepting cashless payments, and food booths.

The event series will also include a concentrated promotion program called shopping season, set to last from June 15 to September 15 at most of the trade centers and supermarkets in the southern metropolis.
