A delegation from Long An Province in southern Vietnam participated in a conference on Thursday afternoon to promote its workforce to Okayama City, Japan, as part of their investment and labor promotion trip to Japanese localities.

Nguyen Thanh Hai, standing deputy secretary of the Long An Party Committee and head of the provincial National Assembly Delegation, led the Long An delegation.

Receiving them were Hisashi Matsuda, chairman of the Okayama City Industry and Trade Association, along with members of the Okayama City Business Association and Japanese enterprises interested in recruiting workers from Long An.

In his welcoming speech, Matsuda expressed his pleasure in welcoming the Long An delegation.

He noted that in 2023, they also visited Okayama City and signed a memorandum of understanding.

In April, a delegation from the Okayama City Industry and Trade Association came to several production facilities in Long An and was impressed by the development potential and infrastructure of Long An International Port.

Matsuda believed Long An would experience rapid growth in the near future and hoped for further exchanges through various cooperation channels.

Currently, Japan faces a labor shortage, whereas Long An has a young and skilled workforce.

Therefore, Japan needs the support of Long An’s leaders and businesses to send workers to Japan, contributing to alleviating the human resource dearth in factories in Okayama.

On behalf of Long An’s leadership, Pham Tan Hoa, deputy chairman of the Long An People’s Committee, expressed gratitude to Matsuda and the Okayama City council, businesses, and delegates for coordinating the conference to strengthen human resource cooperation between the two localities.

Hoa emphasized that Long An’s workers are known for their diligence, hard work, and eagerness to learn, quickly absorbing scientific and technical knowledge and professional skills.

Overall, the province’s human resources are not only growing in quantity but also improving significantly in quality, laying a strong foundation for future development.

At Thursday’s event, the two sides discussed various mutual concerns.

Long An Province aims to better meet the demand for skilled labor and is committed to welcoming and supporting investors and businesses from Okayama City that are looking to recruit workers in the province.
