A delegation from the Swedish Parliament’s Committee on Foreign Affairs, led by Chairman Aron Emilsson, is visiting Vietnam from Sunday to Wednesday.
During their stay, the Swedish delegation is scheduled to meet key Vietnamese officials and stakeholders in both Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City.
Discussions will center on bilateral relations, Vietnam’s economic transformation, and future collaboration opportunities.
The delegation will also engage with over 70 Swedish companies operating in Vietnam across various sectors, reinforcing Sweden’s economic and investment presence.
The visit highlights Sweden and Vietnam’s shared vision to tackle global challenges through scientific and technological advancements.
The two nations aim to strengthen their partnership in sustainable development, innovation, and economic cooperation.
According to the Swedish delegation, the visit serves as a reaffirmation of Sweden’s long-standing support for Vietnam and a stepping stone toward a strategic partnership that will yield long-term benefits for both nations.
The Swedish Parliament and the Vietnamese National Assembly have enjoyed a long-standing partnership since 1998, evolving from aid-driven projects to an equal partnership.
This cooperation has significantly contributed to the work of both law-making bodies over the years, notably through strong collaboration between female parliamentarians, facilitating regular exchanges and dialogue.
This partnership remains the most extensive that the Swedish Parliament has with any other country.
The Swedish Parliament, known as the Riksdag, is a unicameral legislature with 349 members elected every four years.
The Riksdag is responsible for legislation, government oversight, budget decisions, and foreign policy.
The Committee on Foreign Affairs plays a crucial role in shaping Sweden's foreign policy, including international relations, development cooperation, and foreign trade policies.
It also supervises Sweden’s engagement with the European Union, including treaty amendments, EU expansion, and cooperation with non-EU countries.
