A conference attended by representatives from over 30 Vietnamese and Italian higher education institutions took place in Rome on April 9, newswire Vietnamplus reported the same day. Speaking at the conference, Vietnamese Ambassador to Italy Nguyen Hoang Long emphasized the importance of educational cooperation in the strategic partnership between Vietnam and Italy.
In the past years, the two countries have put in efforts and resources to promote cooperation in educational and scientific research, especially between their universities, to create favorable conditions for Vietnamese students to study and research in Italy. The current number of Vietnamese students studying in universities across the European country reaches nearly 1,000, Vietnamplus said.
According to Nguyen Thi Thanh Minh, deputy director of the International Cooperation Department under the Vietnamese Ministry of Education and Training, Italy is a potential partner of Vietnam in the future, especially in social, cultural, and technological sectors.
Representatives from the Italian government promised to offer more favorable policies to support Vietnamese students regarding tuition, accommodation, and administrative procedures (visas and residence permits).
Vietnam and Italy have cooperated in 72 educational projects so far.
