In the last four months, the Government Inspectorate has reviewed 486 out of a total of 528 complicated petitions and denunciations made nationwide since 2009.

Government Deputy Chief Inspector Nguyen Van Thanh announced this at a press conference in the capital city on October 18.

The petitions and denunciations mainly focused on disputes over land clearances and the return of land-ownership rights.

Thanh said from 2009 to late 2011, nearly 2,000 cases had piled up waiting for Government inspectors to resolve.

On orders from Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung, the Government Inspectorate on May 10 this year selected 528 of the most complicated cases for review by the end of the year.

According to Thanh, the Inspectorate, ministries and localities had settled 282 cases by October 15.

The same authorities sent back 131 cases to local administrations for settlement. Another 41 cases are waiting for a decision from the Prime Minister and 32 are waiting for decisions by ministries and sectors at the central level.

Thanh said while trying to resolve the petitions and denunciation, the Government Inspectorate had cooperated with other authorities to look at ways of preventing the complaints from becoming on-going hot-spots that undermine law and order.

He noted that the remaining 41 cases would be reviewed by the end of this month.
